“Authentic American Diner”
This is the kind of place where your coffee cup hardly has a chance to get below half full, where your toast comes from the kitchen already buttered, and the hash browns are piled high. Fast, efficient, knowledgeable service (Brenda is The Best). We stopped for breakfast, found seats at the counter, and were not disappointed. Lumberman’s breakfast, omelet, and special ‘Forest Scramble’ were all very good. Nothing fancy, just simple food cooked well. Plus it was fun just to sit at the counter and watch the comings and goings. I probably wouldn’t choose it for dinner, but as a basic breakfast spot it cannot be beat.

We’re from Chicago and come to Grayling often. We have breakfast/lunch at the Grayling restaurant around 20 times/year or so. The omelettes are delicious (the best I’ve had anywhere), the cabbage soup is great, the pancakes/french toast are outstanding. It’s also just a really nice place to spend an hour for a meal because the waitresses are very welcoming, friendly and helpful! (Brenda is particularly awesome)! Most mornings and afternoons, there’s a mix of couples and families enjoying a meal. And breakfast is available all day long. All in all, the Grayling Restaurant is a great place for a really good meal in a casual environment with nice people.
“A great little diner, locally owned and operated….”
This is a little, locally owned restaurant in the heart of downtown Grayling. Typical small town diner. Been around since 1937. The service was fantastic-always there with coffee, water, asking how your meal was, very attentive. Very busy. This was our 3rd stop-we wanted breakfast-and it was after noon. And THEY have it here! Excellent food. Cheerful place-the staff that is. They could probably spiff up the place a little-update it possibly. But all in all, a great little place to have a simple meal.

We are always quick to complain when we don’t like something but slow to pass on a compliment. I was in Grayling last week Bird Hunting and had 3 meals at your facility. The place was clean, service was good and the help was friendly… we will be back. GOOD JOB!

Nice people, tasty food! We stopped by chance. We had a hamburger, a salad and a sandwich. They were really great for the price. The salad was fresh and the service quick and kind. Highly recommended!
Great local restaurant The food always comes hot and fresh. Very friendly & fast service.We always stop here on our way home from Traverse City for the home cooked food.We enjoy a bountiful breakfast there when we come to Grayling for canoeing.

“Local Favorite”
I moved to Grayling just over 7 years ago from Troy, MI and this is one of my favorite restaurants in Grayling. Yes, I designed the website but I am all about quality of food and great service and the Grayling Restaurant delivers. It’s no coincidence they’ve been around for 74 years!
